Rochon was born in Torrance. Rochon was the daughter of Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) as well as Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). Cerritos Senior High School, in Cerritos California, is where Rochon was a student in 1982. Rochon graduated with a degree in broadcasting journalism at California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in 1986. Her other minors include sociology, theatre, and theater. Rochon made a return to CSUDH for commencement in 2016 as keynote speaker.

Heather is the host and creator of the series that explores travel on digital media called Drive Yourself Local. She takes a trip through the small towns of America in the 1965 Ford Mustang. She has appeared on numerous TV series and movies, like Nightingale, Epic Movie and Tosh

Ullerup first made an appearance first in Battlestar Galactica remake, the Sci Fi Channel's 2006 television show. She played Julia Brynn. Her character, Ashley Magnus, was written out of Sanctuary's first and second season. Her departure remained a topic of heated debate among viewers, with a majority people wanting her back in future episodes, until the show was canceled in the year 2012. Ullerup appeared in Chesapeake Shores as Bree O'Brien. Ullerup appeared as Maggie Thomas, the estranged spouse to Michael Thomas, in the catastrophe film Asteroid: Final Impact (2015). Ullerup played Dale Travers, a recurring role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films from 2016 until the present.
